Do the Bunjii: The Ultimate Ponytailer is at Ricky's NYC

Google

New York, NY April 15, 2004 –- Brad Bealmear, President of Bunjii Design, announced today that his company’s intriguing product, the Bunjii Hair Tie, is on the counter at New York’s hippest accessories chain – Ricky’s NYC. “Ricky’s is an out-in-front kind of place. I had a feeling it might be one of the first to stock our hair ties,” said Bealmear.

Longhaired shoppers are visibly wowed when they spot the sleek, photo-illustrated rack of Bunjiis. What makes this accessory so special? The major difference here is that the Bunjii does not drag over the hair, raking up the follicle with an ever-tightening band. Instead, the ponytailer goes on as a large (over 3” dia.) loop of smooth, high-quality bungee-type cord, which is then pulled taut, wrapped and clipped. Hair is not damaged, tightness of the tie is controlled, and the ponytail is secure - all day long. The style is a fresh and chic fashion statement.

This product definitely has a unique look. A neat row of coils is positioned and held by the patented “CordHub” with the remaining cord falling with the ponytail or braid. That tipped “Bunjiitail” might be an inch or several inches long as decided by the wearer, and provides a natural platform for the stainless-steel bead options.

The cord of a Bunjii is of significantly higher quality than that used in scrunchies; with regular use the ponytailer should last for years. The company offers an expanding range of colors (currently sixteen) and beading options. The best-seller in New York is, of course, carbon (black) - without beads.

Thousands of ponytailers had been sold at Bunjii.com over the past two years before a decision was made to place the product in stores. “I’m a commercial photographer, and Bunjii was an after-work project,” says Bealmear. “But the photo biz was tanking while, on the other hand, orders for hair ties were taking off as word spread through long-hair-oriented Internet boards. It didn’t take a lot of brainpower to decide what to do next!” At present the company is still operating out of its president’s Greenwich Village apartment.

Bealmear states, “We are proud to be associated with Ricky’s. And now we’re moving Bunjii into more and more savvy shops and salons.” (The company just signed with a distributor for the UK.) “Soon people everywhere can throw down their scrunchies and ‘Do the Bunjii!’”

Suggested retail price: $4.95
