Five Tress Saving Tips for Repairing Hair after Summer Damage

Google

May 7, 2004 -- While the summer months transport treats like flip flops, flowers and dining al fresco, those carefree weekends at the Hamptons can wreak havoc on the hair. Vincent J, owner of Vincent J Salon in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is accustomed to repairing hair that has been damaged by the sun, chlorine, salt water and summer highlights. Here Vincent J shares five of his favorite tips to keeping client’s hair looking healthy all year round:

1.Introduce low lights into the hair.
Low lights will add depth to hair that has been lightened by the sun. Dark hair also shines more vibrantly than light. “Warmer tones,” explains Vincent J “have more of a reflective quality than cooler tones. Additionally, hair appears duller in the winter months because there is less natural light so, by introducing warmer tones we can simulate light resulting in hair that appears healthier and shinier. ”

2.Get a good trim.
When the ends of the hair are frayed, they appear more damaged than those that are freshly clipped. Freshly clipped hair also appears healthier because it reflects more light.

3.Two tablespoons of olive oil a day keeps limp locks away.
Studies show that olive oil is beneficial to overall health. As a part of a healthy beauty regimen, Vincent J recommends incorporating 2 tablespoons of olive oil into the daily diet to promote shiny and full-bodied hair and a healthy scalp.

4.Sleep with a moisture-based conditioner.
Before hitting the sheets, apply a small amount of a moisture-based conditioner, such as Crede’s SR treatment, to the ends of the hair (don’t go higher warns Vincent J or you will clog your scalp). Wake up, style and voila; you will have treated your hair to a deep conditioning treatment.

5.Schedule an intensive in-salon treatment.
Vincent J recommends the following professional conditioning treatments:
a.Bio Lustre- A conditioning treatment that gives hair a smooth sleek cuticle.
b.Noiraude treatment- This 15 step treatment is custom formulated with proteins and moisturizers.
c.Vivian treatment-Vivian is a hair-processing machine that utilizes the benefits of fine mist, ozone and negative ions to penetrate the cuticles of the hair and supply moisture and nutrients into the cortex of the hair.

With over 25 years in the industry, Vincent J’s work has been profiled on NBC’s TODAY SHOW, as well as national consumer and trade publications including Allure, Elle, Bride’s and Salon News. To learn more about Vincent J services and product offerings, please visit www.vincentj.com.
